While we weren’t originally cheering fans of the Toshiba TG01′s somewhat odd “stripey” interface, checking it out in person tells a different tale. It actually makes sense and works surprisingly well, and really, there is a reason why we’ve seen so many Windows Mobile skinning efforts, the shipped interface needs it. Most functions you need can be found in Toshiba’s homescreen UI or can be added — the video demos some of the options for making changes and panel color choices if the default isn’t tickling your fancy.

This handset is thin and light and makes the iPhone we used for some scale pics look positively chubby — it’s like having a PSP-sized display in your pocket. The 4.1-inch Regza-inspired screen is clear, the resistive touchscreen is typical hit and miss with fingertips, video and gaming are fast on the 1GHz Snapdragon processor and look gorgeous. I asked him if you could just run a cable.

He turned the phone around in bands other than the 2100MHz included in the first effort, we could easily see this living — almost unnoticed — in our pockets. We’re making that process a little easier by releasing VGA devices in the past, but never was a ….. [20] We’re hoping to have more information about the TG01 after Mobile launch of the TG01 so we’re expecting to see some changes between now and then, and we also have some concerns about battery life while driving a screen like this, but for now, wow. Video walkthrough, some gaming action, and a big gallery are just past the break.

There’s not a whole lot resting on the way to give the impression of being at with the GD900 slider, other than in this pencil case, that’s exactly the effect LG, be shooting designed for. The high-design mobile phone be being carefully safeguarded by plastic and metal not its be the owner of at MWC this week, make a true hands-on impossible other than the good news announcement be that we be able to get a hold a good look at the LG GD900 phone’s headline feature.

That near transparent keypad have a glow apply something like its edges to illumine etch numbers, but other than with intangible feedback hovering near zero, this be a situation everywhere you’ve in reality got to value form over function (as well as in this case, we very soon might).

Interestingly, documents by the GD900 say it’ll start launching in may possibly, although LG’s press documents claim we won’t see it until the second half of the year so it’s unclear when you’ll be able to get one imported. Question is, do you really want people to see your cheek while you’re on the horn.

The Samsung deny plans to launch 12-megapixel mobile phone you believe the fact that Samsung’s first Android-based the Samsung smart phone won’t show up at MWC 2009 is a bad thing? Then you in all probability haven’t heard that other bit of rumor that Samsung nonchalantly smashed on their way out the door.

According to “a source familiar by way of Samsung’s inside market plans” for the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year, the company doesn’t intend to introduce a 12-megapixel smart phone nor do they have any Android phones in the horizon. It appears they’re going to leave the spotlight for other manufacturers to show off their wares.

The company won’t reveal what the real score is, refusing to “officially disclose information about the much-anticipated leading-edge phones.” And it’s not known why Samsung is suddenly halting it’s on the face of it non-stop drive of innovation. Perhaps the Ultra Touch Edition Tosco or the solar-powered Blue Earth mobile phone is just too much for them to work on? Probably not, but we’ll also probably have to wait until mobile phone at MWC 2009 to get it in a straight line from the horse’s mouth.
